I've spent quite a bit of time lately, reading and studying the business of writing, publishing, marketing and selling erotica on Amazon.com. There is a lot of information available, some of it excellent, some of it not so much. Some is outdated. It takes a lot of time to separate the wheat from the chaff.
I started with researching publishing books in general. A lot of that is targeted toward the non-fiction section, and marketed as an easy way to make money. Find an underserved niche, write a quick booklet, creat a kick-ass cover, and watch the money roll in. I'll take most of them with a grain of salt, but I will pick out the best pieces of information as I develop my own strategy.
A few excellent books I found along the way are worth mentioning.
R.A. Barnes The New Author is one such book, especially valuable to the beginner. It doesn't contain any 'secrets' or tricks. It's a nuts and bolts approach, which emphasizes building your social network to market your book and create a following.
It also goes over the basics of preparing your manuscript for eBook publishing, and goes over the process in a clear and factual manner.
I would recommend this highly for someone who's looking to eBook publish for the first time, and who has not been previously published. It establishes the necessary groundwork you're going to need to get ahead
